    Sky broadband speed problems

      Sky broadband speed problems

      Recently got my broadband connected in my new house. But it seems that im only getting speeds of 288kb up and down stream.

      in fact its totally unuseable as i believe the downstream speed to be much less. Its taking longer to load webpages than it would on my 128kb mobile phone connection.

      I rang Sky customer service only to be told that the maximum speed they will give me is 512KB yet when i do a speed check with BT Broadband for my phone number and postcode they will give me 6MB and 6.5MB. Even Tiscali will give me 6mb connection. On the phone when i first ordered the guy said i would get 1MB. The lady was nearly accusing me of lying when i said this.

      Im on Sky connect. The sky helper told me to call back in 10days once the line had sync'd but beside this 512kb is too slow.

      What are the cancellation periods for sky or is it possible to get them to upgrade my line as even 512kb is rediculous.

      If you are on Connect and not Base as your profile indicates, follow the advice given in the other thread you have subscribed to concerning this.

      If you are on Base, it is a different issue and you should post your stats here as requested in the other thread.

      The stats we need to see most are the noise margin and attenuation, please edit your post above and remove your IP address for securitys sake.

      Tells us nothing except that you should have a very good connection speed when everything is sorted out.

      Follow the advice given about contacting Sky and telling them you are on the wrong service!

      BT have you on the wrong package, you're not on ADSL Max so raise the fault with Sky - hopefully you'll get a CST agent who knows this has been happening and they can pass it to BT to correct...

      I called sky again and got talking to a CS advisor who didnt under stand what my problem was since i would only get 512KB anyway.

      Got through to the cancellations department who told me to call BT and ask them to fix it. I explained that i was paying Sky for my BB not BT and who would i even call in BT in any case.

      The result is that ive decided to cancel and ill go to BT who can give me 6MB download speeds. (hopefully )
