I am pretty sure that the terms and conditions state the router is your property but the software isn,t so what other people have done is phoned up and said they will send back the cdrom, and got away with it.

Personally, I would just ignore the request. The terms and conditions state quite clearly that the router belongs to you.

The issue about who owns the software is just a legal technicality. Chances are that you own very little, if any, software. When you go into a shop to buy a copy of Microsoft Office (for example), you aren't buying the software, you're buying a licence to use it. What you lose when you leave Sky is the right to use the software that they put on the router, so all you need to do is reflash the router so that it no longer has Sky's software on it. You'd probably want to do that anyway if you wanted to use the router with a different ISP.
