After several calls to sky, plus that 10 day'training period' cr@p is over, and after speaking to about 6 people in the higher tech group or whatever they are called - they say that my line cannot take more than 256 kbs. How annoying. I think im just gonna give up. Theres no hope - im gaining nothing by ringing them - except for a damn expensive phone bill!!!!!!!! Im so annoyed right now.

unless you can get to cst there's no hope by the looks things - tier 1 obviously dont learn from other people coming in with the same issues...

That's what they said to me about my poort throughput on a 3.5mb sync.
Its seems that that answer is the default lazy ass , non understanding T1 answer. Tell them they are wrong and that you want it escalating to BT as a fault. That will cause them to pass it to CST and then you might stand a chance of speaking to somebody other than a muppet who doesnt know what they are talking about

It's quite scary really. I'm seriously thinking about jumping ship , all of 1 month into my service.

Wouldn't this be CST? If they are and they are correct in what they say, this user should be told his line cannot support broadband, all he has paid should be returned along with compensation for his wasted time and phone calls.

I still think they are wrong and he has been unlucky enough not to find that single lonely ST who understands what is going on. As I have suggested before, maybe the threat of an email to Mr Murdoch would make them get their finger out.

Re: I am new to sky and on connect is 288 kbps u/s and d/s normal?

Well after a 24 phone bill to sky - still nothing was resolved - even some higher tech dept could not fix it - i was so annoyed. So...
I sent them a long email explaining in detail what was wrong etc, and 2 days later (today) i get a voicemail saying that i was on the wrong service type, and they will change it in the next ten days, and to leave my router switched on for 10 days, and i will get 8meg speed - not 252kbps or whatever it is i am getting at the moment.
Im still annoyed that i spent 24 on calls for an issue that was resolved via email!
I will be sending in a compliment for the lady who left me the message for sorting all this out - Probably along with a marriage proposal because im so chuffed that this is now sorted! - while mentioning in the same email as the compliment - why other staff members couldnt sort this out just as easy.

because only a few have the access to do it - that's why...

it was never in the training as Sky don't exactly expect BT to screw things up but they have so now training is having to be worked out in case it happens again...

      Hurrah! you finally found her/him.

It should not take 10 days to fix, I think you will be 'upgraded' in half that time. Let's hope that when you are finally fixed that it is the end of your problems. You should send a claim to Sky for the cost of phone calls as this was definitely not your fault and any decent CS would have sorted it out very quickly. Phone Customer Relations and state your case.
