Connection 'lost' after PC goes to hibernation or Standby

As the title implies, I'm having some PC hibernation issues.

I boot up my laptop and connect to the net... everything goes fine - but when I put the laptop into hibernation or stand by, the problems kick in. When the computer returns from either of the two states, therenever seems to be any connection.

I'm always greeted by Firefox telling me: ''problem loading page''. MSN messenger won't sign in either, resulting in me always having to restart, which is very frustrating, as I normally use hibernation quite a bit. This is the same with the wireless connection last time I checked.

Any idea what the problem is?

You could try disabling UPnP as windows used this for return from hibernation. My experince and others show this does not work.

You may also want to look at the adaptor setting there should be an option in that to allow you to set how it handles hibernation.

This problem has only appeared since I switched to SKYBB - I've neva had it when accessing the net on campus - so I would be surprised if its the adapter

Do I change the UPnP in the router?

The router will have nothing to do with how the adaptor handles handles hibernation thats the adaptors job and Laptops job.

In the admin page down the left hand side at the bottom you will see it.

I've turned UPnP off - I'll see what effect that has.

Thats why I've been surprised by this issue as I assumed the router has nothing to do with it - yet as I said the problem has only surfaced recently

It has a lot to do with how you connect when you come out - wasn't that the point of the original post?

Unfortunately I'm still having problems - As you assumed Dingdong, removing UPnP has made no difference

I'm still having to restart my computer in order to regain a connection
