No. Sky have no control over your line conditions.

It's up to you to sort them out. If the problem lies with your home wiring (probable) then you can sort things yourself. If it's your BT line then BT have to sort it. You'll find loads of advice on how to do this in the cabling and faceplate help forum.

If the line problems are unresolved and you call Sky then all they can do is cap the line i.e. treat the symptoms not the cause.

Most Sky Broadband users will have a telephone and a telephone connection to their Sky TV box. How are they wired up? Are you using a plug-in extension lead? If so, where are you putting the microfilters? At the master socket end of the lead or at the telephone or Sky TV box end of the lead?

I think some may be missing post 12, where the OP says he is plugged in to the Test socket. This would rule out internal wiring. There are a great number of things can go wrong with a telephone line, both above and below ground, especially with bad weather. One thing you can check, if possible, is the junction box on the wall of your house. This is really a BT job, but you don't want to be charged for a callout for nothing. Have a look in the box and see if the screwed joints look corroded or loose. If they are, it is up to you whether you try to fix it or not.

You could also try a quiet line test, dial 17070 option 2 and listen, if you hear any noise at all, phone BT and tell them you have a noisy line. As usual, don't mention Sky Broadband.

hi guys... i took apart my master socket tonight, disconnected both wires and cleaned the screw terminals. i reconnected both wires, put it all back together and did a hard reboot of the modem...

...i'm now back to 12Mb speeds.
