Smile Sky BB Mid Activation Tomorrow

Tomorrow i will be migrating from BT to Sky. (Well im hoping anyway)
When does this normally take place? Does it happen at midnight or sometime during the day?
Does an engineer have to do it from the exchange?

I am going to leave my current router connected to BT until my broadband stops working. Then plug in the Sagem and hopefully be surfin on Sky.

I used DMT tool today after a long time, with my DG834GT and i'm actually amazed, these are my stats,

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4576 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 15.5 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 3.3 db 18.0 db

      Speed test i did earlier

Been connected for 30 hrs now and my IP Profile has gone up to 4000 kbps. I know the noise margin is really low, but this is like the first time in two years i have synced at over 4000kbps lol, just when im about to leave BT

All of the speed checkers say that my line is capable of 2.5 Mbps. Although when i moved to this house it was a new build and when i had my broadband connected for the very first time i synced in the high 4000's. Then i realised that the other sockets in the house werent working. I connected up the extensions to the master socket and then from there everything went downhill.
I had a ADSL master socket fitted from BT and the max speed i ever got with them was 3MB.

I hope i can get something similar with sky.

Re: Sky BB Mid Activation Tomorrow

Hi your activation will start anytime from 12.01 am until 12.00 pm tomorrow. If you have a used a mac code when leaving BT then it should also go sometime tomorrow also. I would assume that you will be getting the new router which handles low noise better. However if you use your extention to the master socket it will have an effect on your speed as it will encourage noise build up. Can you try connecting to the master socket direct or even better the test socket behind the master socket for a more accurate guide of your speed.

When I moved from Pipex to sky last week (using mac) it happened at 11.20am

I lost internet connection for about 20 minutes and was then up and running with sky

Re: Sky BB Mid Activation Tomorrow

I've been using the net all day today and im still on BT.
Not complaining about my speed though, the fastest ive ever had.

I bet im going to be activated at 11.59pm or something like that.
Or maybe not even today. On the letter it said that it can take up to 3 days from this date

Looks like i will have to wait until the additional 3 days as it says
I hope the wait is worth it

Looks like BT haven't managed to go to your exchange yet, been happening quite a bit lately

Re: Sky BB Mid Activation Tomorrow

      Wheyhey! Im finally connected.
I think it must have happened sometime in the early hours this morning.
My Netgear DG834 was showing these stats

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 5056 kbps 384 kbps
Line Attenuation 54.0 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 3.3 db 14.0 db

But obviously wasnt connected to Sky, because i dont have the username and password to let me use that router.

I plugged in my Sagem and im getting these stats

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4000 kbps 384 kbps
Line Attenuation 54.0 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 7.2 db 13.0 db

Not bad, but the sync of 5056 kbps is better.
Is there any way to use the DMT tool with this router?

      Speed test,

Is there any way to find out what my IP profile is?
When i was with BT i used to goto speedtester.bt.com and that used to show me what it was.

I've done a few speed tests and they seem to be a bit slow.

      Last Result:

      ADSL Guide

      Speed Down 1767.78 Kbps ( 1.7 Mbps )
      Speed Up 322.53 Kbps ( 0.3 Mbps )

      SkyUser
Your download speed is 1560Kbps. That is 2875Kbps below the average for Sky
Your upload speed is 281Kbps. That is 124Kbps below the average for Sky

Its coming out at about 1.5Mb

Re: Sky BB Mid Activation Tomorrow

that does work but some people have had issues with it - you put your phone number in and it should then ask you for your username which is the router MAC address (in upper case if needed) with @skydsl added to the end, e.g. xxxxxxxxxxxx@skydsl

however, a lot of people have been saying there are issues...
