      Those with Low noise margin

One of the things I noticed when sorting out my low noise margin issues and disconnects ( router wan has now been connected for 102 hrs) was the following.
I noticed that if I picked up my telephone which was filtered with the supplied filter the noise margin got better from 9.0db to 13.5db. I puzzled over this and discovered an unfiltered phone extension connection in my daughters room. Put a filter in it and it raised the downstream noise margin from 9.0db to 15.5db. The noise margin does not know alter when a phone is picked up.
I was wondering if people with these low noise margin issues notice a difference in the noise margin when they pick up the phone as this may indicated dodgy extension wiring or lack of a filter somewhere. Obviously people on the Sky packages must be aware that they need a filter on the Sky TV DigiBox telephone connection I have tested this and the line will disconnect overnight if not filtered at least in my case.
