      Router rebooting constantly

Hi I'm connected to our router via ethernet cable.

Just recently the router has started rebooting itself constantly, it can be 4/5 times if not more in ten minutes.

I'll just get the red cross come up over my connection, it will re-acquire and then connect again and I'll have to wait for the router to set itself up and away I go again.

The routers stood up to cut down on over-heating already.

      Any ideas?

      Thanks

      Re: Router rebooting constantly

Might be worth running something like routerstats lite to see what is happening prior to reboots, if the SNR is dropping to the point where the router tries to reboot to reconnect to the server then it may be line issues if it's just the router rebooting for no reason then it needs changing.

      Re: Router rebooting constantly

looking at those stats there's nothing wrong there - i also assume you're wireless? do you have a white V1 router or a black V2 one?

      EDIT: wired, just saw that...

      Re: Router rebooting constantly

The white V1 ones had a problem with some people if that UPNP (Universal plug and play) was enabled it would reboot the router every 15 mins or so.

You could try turning off UPNP and see if that makes a difference.

      Re: Router rebooting constantly

its only relevent IF you have an 'internet gateway' icon in the 'network connections' section of control panel - if not then the bug shouldn't raise its head...

      Re: Router rebooting constantly

well I don't think UPnP is the problem as I've switched it off and I'm still having the problem. The router is rebooting alot more frequenty now, sometimes a couple of times a few minutes. The noise margin doesn't seem to drop before the router reboots either. Perhaps it's time to get a new router from sky?
