      So, SO! FED UP!

I come here in complete desperation as all my efforts at contacting sky directly have been completely in vain and a total waste of time and money!

I got sky tv / broadband / phone package in mid october and sky tv has been great, no problems there, the phone I dont use alot, however! The internet I do use ALOT! This is where my issue lies!

Ever since getting the broadband connected, it has been working intermittently. The problem is a very unique one though, in the aspect that web pages iwll not load at all, but other applications that use the internet will still operate without fault, such as MSN messenger.

The only way of fixing this so I can view web pages again is by disconnecting the router in the netgear admin settings and reconnecting. This is a short term fix that I have been putting up with for a very long time now, infact I have had to do it so many times, that I even wrote a script to do it automatically!

As I have said, I have phoned sky several times. Always getting the same novice "trouble shooting" routine that I tell them won't work and that I have done several times with them and just want to be put on to a tier 3 technician!

I have only got through to a tier 3 techinician once and we talked for about 30minutes going through different scenarios. He tried putting the net down from 16mb to 8mb to see if it was more stable, which he said it was... but it clearly isn't any different on my end. Not to mention he did not reset it back to 16mb and left it on 8mb and this was 3 months ago! I am paying for a service I am not getting!!!

Not to mention recently since about 3 weeks ago, I have been getting download speeds of just 50kb/s! I have run several speed tests over these 3 weeks from different websites, including the one on this website and it is always the same. The download is at about 542.58 Kbps and the upload is at roughly 634.43 Kbps.

I have had enough now though! I would call sky up and cancel if I thought they would actually pay attention!

Please help me sort this problem I would greatly appreciatte it! If you need me to post router settings let me know. I have them all ready.

      Re: So, SO! FED UP!

lets have a look at the stats then,

also how are you connected (wired / wireless) and is the router plugged into an extention or the master socket

(some of the above may not be relevant, but will give an over view of set up )

I am connected wirelessly on my laptop but also use ethernet cable to connect via my pc. Both have the same issue.

Router is plugged into master phone socket with no extensions.

Another thing to note also is that I am within a kilometre if my exchange. Donno if that is relevant bu tI thought I would say it anyway.

Sorry what do you mean by test socket? I am pretty new in this flat and as far as I'm aware there is only one phone socket, however, there are some extensions with sockets on the end that lead in to each bedroom. I have presumed that the master socket is the one that is actually in the wall.

      Re: So, SO! FED UP!

Run for a for 3 - 4 hours plugged into that test socket, see if things improve and then repost your stats.
