Start by connecting your computer to the router using the ethernet cable (if necessary buy a network card for your computer as they cost about 5 and you should have one).

Following the help files on the Sky CD or from the tutorials on this site you should be able to address the router's user interface and check that wireless is ON and then disable wireless security. Once you have a reliable connection re-apply WPA TSK at the router giving a passphrase (could be the one printed on the router case) and then try connecting your computer, adding the passphrase at that end as well.

If the sticker on the bottom of the router is faded try the sticker on the card that came with it, if you can't find that then you will need an ethernet cable to connect with as you will need to go into 192.168.0.1 to get your key.

I have never had to hard wire before when changing wireless network adaptors.I got the above adaptor to work be letting windows configure it but at very low speed .

Oh hang on, just seen what you mean, the box for the encryption key is greyed out on screen? You should be able to allow windows to control the device without losing speed, have you got good signal strength showing for the connection?
Do you know the model number for the adaptor you are using?
