JUst got connected to Connect but very sloooow

I was on Max at my previous flat and have just moved house - only Connect available here and it has been turned on today (although the letter said 10th!). The router has connected at 288kbps up and down which is ridiculous. Here are my stats, which as I understand these things look pretty good (low attenuation and high noise margin). Any thoughts as to what is wrong?

there is a 10 day training period for connect in which the speed will deviate until it reaches its optimum for your line

Fingers crossed that will be the case. If after the 10 days things have not improved only then will sky do anything. Connect is a rebranded BT product which does suffer from speed throttling. How are you connected?

that is a very high SNR ?

try rebooting the router over the next couple of days, if your u/l & d/l stay the same with that SNR you may want to ring sky (not sure they will do anything untill the 10 days are up ?)

Re: JUst got connected to Connect but very sloooow

I am connected to the main socket - with just the router and phone plugged into the microfilter. I am 600m away from the exchange according to samknows (which also suggests around 6.5Mbps max speed)

with your attenuation you should get the max for the connect package (sync at 8meg), unfortunatly on connect you may never get them speeds
but on the bright side, once there is room on the exchange you would have no problem getting the max (about 7meg d/load after overheads )

Re: JUst got connected to Connect but very sloooow

after a bit of reading I would have expected the modem to sync at high speeds first then work down to slower speeds as resyncs become less frequent and the connection more stable. Seems strange to sync at such a low speed at first?

Wierd, reboot the router and see if it syncs at those speeds again, if it does you may have be patient an wait till you are 10 days past your activation date and then call in for a speed and config issue.

Re: JUst got connected to Connect but very sloooow

I rebooted a couple of times and get the same figures. I'll leave it a day or 2 and try another reboot to see if things change (I guess if there is no change at all then no "learning" is going on and I am actually capped at 288)
