its quite surreal really and changes every 2 seconds from 1mbps to 5 mbps

but seems really fast at some stages and the it lags and disconnects. Obviously now the connection is running i am happy it just needs tweaking , bit concerned router says im getting 15.9 mbps and most ive had is 5mbps

      anyone been through similar?

ps if anyone is having log in issues on sites such as ebay, msn etc etc i have a fix.

I've said it on a few other posts but I have found the speed test sites rather in-consistent. The one site I have trusted and is apparently trusted by Sky techies is this one:

      http://www.btopenworld.com/speedtest

Download either the medium or the large file and see what download rate you achieve, I'd be interested in the results.

Strangely the ADSL Guide speed test has reported the most weird results for me but I've got a sneaking suspicion that the Java based application doesn't run correctly on my Apple Mac.

You're lucky, this is the first time I've seen anything above the 15323 sync rate and still keep a SNR above 7db. You must have a very good line.

try downloading these 2 files, using ftp or IE: ftp://anonymous:@ftp4.nl.freebsd.org...i386-disc2.iso
      ftp://anonymous:@ftp.mirror.ac.uk:21...OpenCD-3.1.iso

http speedtesters are not exactly a 100% correct estimation of your speed. I'm able to pull 40mb/s out of the .NL ftp at any time, so bandwidth shouldn't be an issue.

after all the aggro and loads of tweaking and bt going into the exchange i seem to have come out with one hell of a connection.

i hope i can tweak it further or it syncs better but this is all off a wireless connection to laptop and i have to say im delighted.
