      Static IP address

im sorry if this has been asked before...

My work have locked down the network so when we operate from home, we need to have a static IP so it is fixed into the firewall at work meaning we can connect from the outside.

I know with a true VPN you dont necessarily need a static IP, but the powers that be wont budge and insist we get static IPs.

I have a very strong feeling that i saw somewhere ages ago that sky dont offer this. Is this still the case? If so, whats involed in obtaining my MAC code after only two months being with them (baring in mind i have the full tv package and have done for past 5 years) - is that likley to make a difference with any potentail charges they'll try and apply?

Or - if theres an alternative way of spoofing a static IP for work purposes then please pm me!

      TIA

      Matt.

      Re: Static IP address

You are correct - Sky do not offer static IP addresses. In any event it is against their terms and conditions to use Sky broadband for work purposes!

My employer is trying to get people to work from home, they are providing a bb connection for those that do as its not just sky that say their bb is not for business use - most providers are the same.
