We estimate your line is capable of between 16mb to 24mb broadband on an ADSL2+ service

Did you use the up to 8 checker?
Yes, I was using the up to 8 checker because, before my line was activated, all I had was a BT phone number and a post code. Even now the up to 8 checker says 0mb 0kbps!!

In the early days of broadband, they used to estimate speeds on the basis of how far you were from the exchange, but now they aggregate the results of various different methods, such as extispicy, capnomancy and causinomancy. I understand that they're planning to move over to a system using nephomancy as 21CN is rolled out. Nephomancy lends itself more readily to full automation.

I don't know what they mean, but they sound very rude, I hope you don't fall foul of the Mods.

Just kidding, I know it means beheading a chicken kicking it around throwing the remains up into the sky and making a curry of what comes down.
