      Re: having problems changing router

password and username are hardcoded into the routers (if you had one of the old whute netgear ones, you could extract them and put them in any router you wanted to)

which router do you have and what problems have you got ?

Edit: see you have said the netgear, i assume its one of the new ones?

      I doubt it.

If you have the old V1 then there is an issue with the firmware not being able to cope with particular line problems. If you have a new one then they're fine.

Unfortunately people with problems always assume it is the router or Sky's fault. It very rarely is - maybe 5% of the time in the 16 months I've been involved in the forum.

The forum is packed with useful information. Rather than posting a sweeping comment with no info to back it up, why not spend a few minutes reading and then supply the info people need to be able to help you - if you're unable to help yourself. Then people can confirm whether you've somehow managed to get two duff routers, or more likely, what the problem actually is.

      Re: having problems changing router

If you put any other router onto sky`s ADSL you are in breach of there terms and conditions. As far as i understand it, sky will not help with any issues - and if they find out they could terminate your connection.
