laptop drops connection - desktop doesn't

Hi, for the last few months I have had a problem with my laptop dropping the broadband connection every few minutes - but the desktop broadband connection is constant. There is no problem with the wireless or ethernet connection as the laptop maintains a link with the desktop ie I can look at docs on the desktop from the laptop even though the broadband on the laptop has dropped. I have connected the laptop direct via cable to the sky modem to eliminate any possible lan issues but to no avail. I presume somehow settings have got changed on the laptop to cause this problem but I've checked everything and Googled the problem but with no success.
      Anyone got any ideas please?

assuming the wireless is with the laptop it sounds to me like a wireless reception issue - try the laptop wired and see what happens...

Could also be the UPnP "bug" just affecting the laptop. have you turned it off?

Try that, reboot the laptop and see if things improve.

Thanks for responses. As I said in my post I wired the laptop direct to the router and the problem continued so I don't think it's a wireless problem.

Looked at the UPnP at is switched off.

      Still stuck.
