and hopefully if/when they decide to do this, they will include some form of tool for you to measure your usage with, rather than relying on us to install our own devices such as netmeter.

Re: Question about monthly usage limit

I have gone over mine by 30GB in the first month of owning it, i only knew due to the stats option of netmeter. they've not called or sent an e-mail to tell me off yet. This month i intend to stay below the limit just incase it requires 3 months of going over before you get a call.

Re: Question about monthly usage limit

I am not sure, but I would think that the usage is reset on your billing date and not on the day the DD comes out of your account.

It may be worth dropping sky an email about this but I am sure this is the way it works (seems to be industry standard).

As for the usage limit, well I cannot comment. Dont know how much ive used or nothing. Forgot to load a monitoring system on my system lol.

It's not as difficult as it may seem, last month I bought a digital distributed game that was 5 gig and as it was an online one it used approx 30 meg/hour during play.

Microsoft has just launched the video marketplace on the Xbox and HD movies are coming in at 3-6 gig.

So without even resorting to torrents or anything else like that bandwidth use is going up and up, although I'm sure if you went over consistantly Sky would most likely asky you to upgrade to Max.

Re: Question about monthly usage limit

I agree that using an allowance is easy. Easier for some than others depending on the activity. For example yesterday/today Ive been downloading some different linux flavors so I can test a few things out. Each one of these comes in at 900Mb - 1Gig.

Then there is the streaming of video and TV over the net with you tube and bbc's iplayer etc. It all adds up. But I myself would be interested to know what my usage is like, think ill have to set up something to monitor the routers throughput...
