      doh of course i have my own laptop which i can try connecting on there.

      Their connection is set to auto DHCP.

      I have already tried hard resetting the router - this is done by pressing that button at the back with a pin isnt it?

      Thanks for the above suggestions guys. I'll try using my own laptop as a first try ...

      really silly question, but does the router even have sync at your friends house? can't see it mentioned in the OP

      yes it syncs,... at least theres no flashing lights. Everything was alright when i first set up sky bb for them but a couple of days later this started happening.

      are they on Connect of LLU (Base, Mid or Max)? There have been issues with Connect for the last month odd but rebooting the router should resolve this...

      however, as you say, it works fine at your house so I'm assuming something has happened with their PC...

      thanks for all the help folks. Turned out it was the stupid firewall (Sygate) which had been playing up.. disabling it didnt work, so I uninstalled it, and hey presto, internet is back on.

      Looks like I'll be installing Zonealarm on that PC , much more user friendly from my experience./
