      Question Monthly Usage

      Hi,

I know I have 40Gb/month and what is supposed to happen if I exceed it but is there a way I can find out how much I have used? Although my limit is higher than my last ISP my connection is also faster so I figure I might use it quite quickly so I need to monitor it somehow.

      Any help appreciated.

      Kyu

      Re: Monthly Usage

      Hi there,

      Unfortunately Sky do not offer a usage monitoring service of any kind. However not to worry there is a way for you to record your usage. There are a few different makers available and here is a list;

There are many more available just have a look through this Google search

I use one called tautology which is free and seems to report accurately.

Also at the moment Sky do not appear bothered if you exceed your download limit. Nevertheless i suspect there will be a day when they do, at this stage i would hope that they will include some form of usage measure as a tool for you to monitor hopefully on their homepage for example.

      Thumbs down Re: Monthly Usage

Hum something wrong with my router or they've capped me I've reinstalled McAfee so usuage reset but I figure I'm pretty much on the edge of 40Gb this month. 160 kbps is my downstream, 448 kbps is my upstream. Downstream is usually 6548Kbps.

      Re: Monthly Usage

As i said dont worry at this stage if you have gone over your limit, nothing will happen. Even if it did you would be notified by email in the first instance informing you. On the subject of capping, post your full stats and someone will tell you?

Ahh he is on the Connect package where caps are taken seriously due to it being a BT product as apposed to sky network.

I would suggest calling up tomorrow to get an idea but I would have thought that you may have been capped due to it being BT's network.

You should have been sent an email to inform you of you getting close to your limit. Do you use the sky email address?

Again try one of those monitors mentioned above and see how you get on. Netlimiter is brilliant if you download etc and are on a quota as you can set speed limits etc for each application, program etc and also set it by schedule. The downside to it though is that to do this you need to pay for that copy, unless you have a mate working for them

      Re: Monthly Usage

yeah thanks, I'll give them a call on one of the national numbers I've got My email doesn't work has been saying this for 2 months...

"Over the next few weeks, your current Sky Email will be moving to Sky Email and Tools 'powered by Google'. Don't worry, your email address won't change
(i.e. username@sky.com) and we'll transfer your email and contacts automatically."

Can I demand a partial refund as I haven't had email since I signed up, and I signed up for email and broadband not just broadband.

P.S. actually looking at my bill it says "Broadband Connect Discounted to #5 for 12 Months ( Soldout )" Making my bill 24 for Sky+ 4 mixes, broadband and talk.

Go to BT Speedtest enter your phone number then your ADSL username. This will do an official BT speed test and show your present profile. Your ADSL username is <the MAC number of your router, no colons, followed by> @skydsl

You should be able to use this report when phone Sky, but it will depend on who takes your call as Sky TS do not seem to be trained for Connect customers. This tester is always busy, it could take several attempts to get on.
