Exclamation Help - General connection problems, slow transfer.

Ok, in the beginning we had some real problems. The router kept disconnecting, we had exchange problems, then 10 days downtime because of somthing whitch i dont know, but im still having problems. I get upload rates that are gradually decreasing, i got somthing around 500kbs in the beginning now im down to 180kbs? I cant download one torrent without my internet lagging up? Whats going on? Im using the first router sky distributed to Sky Max users (The netgear one). Oh im on Sky Max, it allso says my line supports speeds of upto 8MB.

Post your stats, it may be that there is a reason for your speeds especially if you are on Max but capped at 8Mb

Ok firstly it looks like you have been capped. Have you phoned sky to query speeds etc Your line attentuation is very high but also your noise margin is extremly low. I would personally think that with an attentuation that high it woud be difficult to acheive a speed of 8 mb also with a noise margin less than approx 7 you are liable to frequent disconnections. Check out our mognuts facilty to artificially increase your noise margin. and also check out our our cable/facing forum to see if as i suspect you have a wiring issue.

Aye, looks like you need to check your telephone line for issues internally and also unplug everything but the phone from the line and listen for noise in case there is an external issue too.
Can you explain how you are connected (what plugs into where on the line) and as to if there are any extensions on the line?

If you have an NTE5 faceplate, with a spit across the front, remove the faceplate and plug into the Test socket inside. This will bypass any internal wiring and give you the most accurate reading possible.
