Sky Technical Asst. tells me to serch Google to fix my problem

I just hang up the phone with the Sky with that answer !!!

I upgraded from Mid to Max 3 weeks ago, and have alot of problem with downloading speed. After try to fix by myelf by following the forum member advices, I still got the downloading speed 25 kB/s which is a nightmare to me. Pay more, get less speed !!!!

Phone them so many times this week, the told me to do the same AtoZ checking, deleting, switchinh off (you know what I mean) . I said I already done everthing you've siad nothing works.

So she told me to run CMD---> netstat, it came up with 20 open networks, which need to delete. Fine I asked her to tell me how to do it, she said she doesn't have any informations to do it, I need to seek the technical help form somewherelse. I said I'mnot happy with that because this problem started after I moved up to MAX package. So she put me on hold for few minutes, the line put me through another adviser who I had to repeat my name .... blah blah again.

He said to me to swich off the computer and the router leave for 5 minutes, the problem should be sorted. I asked him if not what shall I do.

      He said

" Switch on your computer, open IE, type in Google for Slow Speed connection and follow that. "

How could he siad that, I was angry so I asked him to transferred me through the customer service, he put me on hold for more than 5 minutes. I had to hang up.

It took me more less an hour to get NOTHING.

      Very sad day.

Just want to share my first post with this matter.

      Merry X'mas everyone.

posting router stats and a bit more information on setup would help but the Sky agent was right to tell you to find help elsewhere - it's outside Sky's remit for technical support so although they can identify the problems, they can't help you resolve them if they're PC related

What was your speed before you 'upgraded' to Max? Did you have a good enough connection to warrant the move? Can you post your detailed stats?

If you actually have 20 connections established in Netstat, as opposed to some established and some listening, that is a lot. Have you run an AV, Spybot and a Trojan hunter scan to make sure your PC is clean? I would imagine you have an AV running, but it may be worthwhile running Spybot Search and Destroy and a dedicated TrojanHunter, this one is a fully working 30 day trial. These will pick up malware missed by an ordinary AV scan.
