      Be to Sky Possible?

      Hello folks.

Can I migrate from Be to Sky without too much hassle? I know you can get a MAC from Be, but have only ever migrated from non LLU to a non LLU before, which is easy and with no/little downtime.

Would i actually have to cancel Be completely and then start a fresh meaning weeks of downtime?

      Cheers.

      Re: Be to Sky Possible?

Both Be and Sky use what's called a "shared metal path facility" or SMPF, so I believe this should be possible without having to "cease and reprovide". One of the friendly Sky agents who post on here might be able to give a definite answer though.

      Re: Be to Sky Possible?

LLU mac codes are accepted by Sky.

If there was an issue transferring you, 99% of the time it would manifest itself as an error somewhere in the provisioning process so it wouldn't cause a problem with your BE internet, the order would just be rejected or delayed.

      Okay thankyou.

So what happens if it is rejected? I would have to cancel Be and try again after a couple of weeks?

Depends on the reason. If its because of the BE being on the line but not being transferrable via the mac then yes; You'd need to cancel with BE, wait until your BE internet stops working and give Sky a call the next day. They would then take 8 working days to get the net setup on Sky.

Its very unlikely though. Almost all mac codes work fine now

      Re: Be to Sky Possible?

      Appreciate the advice.

As said, i know its easy to go from ADSL to ADSL but never transferred from LLU. I have actually given my 3 month notice to Be, which ends on the 07/02/2008 but can request a MAC before then if I wish to. I'd best allow a few weeks before my disconnection date to request the MAC to be on the safe side eh?

Yep, its best to request it and use it as early as possible - it might mean paying for two services for 2 or 3 weeks but in the long run it makes things easier

      Re: Be to Sky Possible?

      Hi All

I'm just on my way in to Sky broadband from BE. Mac etc was submitted to sky online about 1-2 weeks ago. Yesterday my BE connection stopped and is currently sitting at contact dhcp server , having resynced and is now on normal ADSL rather than 2+. Sky order paged still shows order processing for the router but has now updated to show my expected connection date as yesterday) with a disclaimer about few days late or something.

Skys feet seem to be working faster than their head on this one. Oh by the way it's going onto a connect/ipstream product due to no cpacity at exchange for now @ 5pm.

So it is possible although isnt as smooth for me as it could be. Might be a few days now before the router turns up even though I look like I've been connected/switch at least in some capacity.
Bebox is now syncing at 4.8mb down from 5.5 or so with BE.

Unfortunately, its a recognised issue with connect - it can take up to 5 working days from activation to recieve your router.
