There fine until you get to the noise margin which is pants, surprised you remain connected. Check these posts for the answers.

thanks for the info - i've had a read, but i'm no wiser as to how to improve my moise margin - apart from repeatedly rebooting my pc - which i assume will be a bit of a temporary measure

no, if your stats improve you can look at where on your internal wiring you could improve (if internal wiring is to blame, there is the ring wire to consider or you could fit a filtered face plate) but lets look at the stats from the test socket first.

If you boot your router at a 'noisy' time, like now, it should sync at about 7dbs. This should be maintained and even rise during the day, if it doesn't then you have line problems and should investigate your internal wiring.

Often the best way to improve internal wiring is to remove the wire from terminal 3 in your phone sockets. This wire is only required for old phones and not even then when the phone is plugged in to a filter. When connected it acts like an aerial collecting all sorts of interference, increasing the noise on your line.

Re: I know you hate this Q - but are these stats decent?

I do, my connection is 9 meg on the normal face plate, and 14 on the test socket.

And as I'm too lazy to buy an ADSL faceplate (don't use the extensions) I just leave it in the test socket.

As for the noise margin, you are best rebooting the router some time now (9pm ish) as that's when most lines noise margin drop the most, that'll then reset your connection at a slightly lower speed, but give you a more stable line.

And by slightly, could be up to a meg, but likely to be less..
