    phone call disconnects broadband

      phone call disconnects broadband

      hi all after recieving a phonecall mon pm my sky broadband has gone up the shoot. as you can see from stats below after reboot from mossy my noise is ok but now when i rec a phone call it drops down to sometimes as low as 2.4db and disconnects. I have plugged in to the test socket and have one phone and filter. I have changed the phone as well, would this be a bt problem or sky.

      If the phone and router are plugged into the filter and it's dropping on calls then it's a line fault more often than not. Does it still happen if the filter/router/phone combination are plugged into the test socket? If so then call Sky and report the fault.

      hi many thanks for your reply yes the phone/modem/filter are all plugged into the test socket. my wife just made a phone call and the connection was stable until she disconnected the call the broadband then disconnected.

      Try and change microfilters if it is still the same phone up Sky BB and it will go to CST who will then in turn log a fault of to BT

      hi thanks for your reply have changed filter still the same i only have to turn phone on and my noise margin drops to 2.7db. have emailed sky and have had a response from claire answered her questions and am now waitin

      If you don't get any joy, try phoning BT and tell them you have an intermittent crackling noise on your phone, could they check it. Make sure the Master faceplate is replaced, just in case they send an engineer. Don't mention Broadband or Sky.

      I remember this happened to someone some time ago, it was a loose connection on the phone line. BT will not check a line for broadband faults unless Sky request it, but it seems to be the last thing they want to do.

      A quick glance at the Openreach price list explains that. Openreach may not charge Sky much rental for an unbundled line but boy do they make up for it with extra charges.

      hi have just rec. email from sky they have raised a ticket for their CUSTOMER SOLUTIONS DEPT. who will make adjustments to my line to try to resolve the noise issues Does this mean they are going to cap me? they say this could take up to five days and they will contact me.

      Line capping is instant so possibly they are awaiting BT. You can always ring up and give the ticket ID, the T1 can look at the ticket and tell you what it says.

      hi thanks I have just tried my fifth filter with no luck, all i have to do is get a line on my phone and sit in front of my computer and watch the noise margin drop from 10.0db down to below 5.0db and then mossywell's reboot goes into action because of connection loss. will give sky a ring.
