      Re: Router has lost 5mb

Once again, to be fair, the OP was getting 19Mbit/sec on Be, sees Sky offering broadband at 10 a month, but only up to 16Mbit/sec. He thinks, "Well, if my line can support 19Mbit/sec, I'm bound to get the maximum 16Mbit/sec with Sky. So it'll only be a small drop in speed for a service that's half the price."

Getting 9Mbit/sec at first, then 13Mbit/sec after talking with CS (who tell him that that's the fastest his line can possibly go) must be quite infuriating. And the fact that it's not really a technological issue with ADSL, but down to Sky's dogmatic refusal to allow its customers to use anything other than their faulty routers must be quite maddening.

Because at the time my hours at work had been cut and I needed to save money.

Was there any need to be insulting? I am not a tight Wad. I was financing to the best I could.

      as i said, no offence....

IF there were errors building then something on the line had caused noise to jump. chances are the router might not be helping but if you have a V2 one then it shouldn't be an issue as they would seem to work better than the V1s...

Just to let you know the most the customers line can handel according to the information I had available to me at the time was 12.5Mb/sec he is currently getting 13.5Mb/sec. If I had have stuck to the guidelines I could have put the customers line at 12.5Mb this would have been less errors on the line. But personally if a customer is paying for up to 16mb they should get the best available speed possible. Therefore this customer at the moment is getting a little bit more than what the system says he should be getting. If the customer wishes to cancel then he has every right to do so.
