      The OP appears to be saying that he/she was given the "servers are down" excuse when contacting them about constant disconnections. There's a big difference between "our support systems are down so we can't help you at the moment" and "our servers are down so that's why you're getting problems". In this instance the OP appears to have been given an inaccurate response designed to end the call.

      Of course, it must be true sometimes - although if Sky agents are using "servers" as shorthand for any technical internal system or ADSL service related issue, then that's not good practice, lazy and misleading.

      Totally agree and it only leads to annoyed customers calling back and giving the next poor T1 grief for it when it wasn't them that misled the caller in the first place. Personally I think that anyone that gives the "servers are down" excuse to end a call without properly troubleshooting it should be reported for disciplinary procedures to take place.
      It causes no end of problems when a caller comes in with a long standing complaint that hasn't been sorted or even looked into properly.

      Also you advised me to call sky and say why they had capped my sync speed? where does it mention this in the router stats so i can quote some figures at the T1 support to get me through to T3.

      Thanks for all ur help saturday u are a living legend!

      Re: Speed dropped almost magically!!

      It's interesting reading this thread as my speeds have also dropped dramatically over the last three days, after almost a trouble free year having freed myself from sky's capping policy. To say it's becoming frustrating is something of an understatement. It's taking 5 mins to download most web pages and nearly half an hour to download a 4meg song.

      OK so that shows that your low download speed (for your sync) was a wireless problem.

      7mb is not far off what you'd expect for your current sync. Now the issue is how to get uncapped.

      You have a great noise margin with few line errors and with your attenuation you should be able to get a 16meg sync or close to that. Give Sky a call (after 11:00) and see what they can do. Don't try and justify your problem with T1 - chances are (unfortunately) they won't understand. Just go through the low speed rigmarole and you should get transferred to CST (was T3).

      If you really want to know and you get a T1 you can have a reasonable discussion with, your stats show that your router believes it can sync at ~16760kbps (see max rate) but it is actually syncing at 9997kbps. Together with your high noise margin of 15.4db this shows without any doubt that you are capped at 9997kbps.

      BTW, thanks for your comments - much appreciated

      @lenin

      Could you give a few more details - i.e. you router sync stats, how you are connected and any other issues?
