      No, not if you have microfilters fitted everywhere you should. The microfilters ignores the incoming signal on line 3, but they have circuitry which recreates the ring signal from the signal on lines 2 and 5.

      Actually, it's because the ring wire isn't connected to anything except at the master socket, that it acts as an aerial, picking up interference.

      Well, i've just diconnected an old phone on one of the extensions which didn't have a filter - i'm now syncing at 8.5MBs! There is another phone in the detached garage which isn't on a filter - so more to come when i sort that. Eventually, when i sort a filtered master, i think i'll crack the 14 meg mark.

      Ah, when you get a filtered faceplate, then you really ought to put the ring wire back. Although you'll might get away without it.

      Just tightened up the screws in yee olde master, and now syncing at 10800!

      Oh, and attenuation is now at 34dB - so it shows u CAN do something about it if you have a spider web of extentions like me
