Just got connected today. Very slow connection

This is a discussion on Just got connected today. Very slow connection within the Sky Broadband help forums, part of the Sky Broadband help and support category; I see, sorry. All stats are taken from the equipment connected to the test socket...

It looks like you are capped at a 'test' speed, due to your previous bad wiring, but someone may give a better interpretation. I think you will have to phone Sky and ask them to re-set your connection.

Looks that way to me too. I'd be very surprised if Sky aren't able to lift your speed a lot.

Best thing to do is call late at night (after 11:00) and report low speeds. After going through the T1 troubleshooting you should get put through to CST who will be able to look at your connection in real time and make adjustments.

Note though that connecting to the test socket removes any problems with your home wiring. If/when you get uncapped, you'll need to have solved any wiring problems before going back to a normal socket (assuming you have wiring problems that is). A comparison of stats between the test socket and your normal socket would show if there is a problem - that's what I was asking for earlier.

This is very odd. I'm not aware that there could have been any 'bad' wiring as this is a new house, and the equipment has only ever been connected to the master socket.

In fact, this is a new estate, so all the wiring is for a new build. As for the exchange, I know there are no set rules, but its less than a mile away

Sky told me to wait 3 days for the line to 'settle', any truth in this?

      Cheers all

I will post the stats from the test socket and actual socket, although, with it all being new, I would not expect much difference

These stats are from a short line but can anyone explain this? Looks to me like this is strangling the whole connection?

If you unscrew the faceplate on your master socket, it will reveal a test socket

Re: Just got connected today. Very slow connection

Does your BT master socket have a physical "split" that goes from left to right just above the fixing screws? If it does then it is designed to be unscrewed and there will be a test socket on the right hand side of the back plate when you unscrew and remove the bottom of the face plate.
