      Sky Max is 3.5Mb

Been with Sky nearly 8 months now, and failed to connect at higher than 3.5Mb...my attenuation is fairly high, but is this really the best I can expect.

Spent hours on the phone with Sky, and it has done no good - using the master socket and can't find any faults with the line. Any ideas?

Hi, im afraid your line has been capped. When you phoned Sky they must have done this to enable you to obtain a more reliable connection. They have also put you on GDMT as opposed to ASDL2+ , to ensure this. It is true that you have a very high attentuation figure which will effect the speed that the signal can travel down the line. My figures are only slightly better than yours i can only acheive 5 mb . You could try TCP Optimiser if you havnt already to possibily push your speed up slightly, but with your high attentuation it wont get much better. I assume you have checked your micro filters to make sure that they work properly, and are you connecting wireless or ethernet

With a good quality line you should be able to achieve around 6000. However you say you cant find any faults with your line yet your stats which relate to a very short period of time are already showing errors creeping in. You refer to the master socket, try the test socket behind the master assuming you have a new style faceplate and see if that gives an improvement. Any stats you post need to relate to a longer period (24hrs is good) with active use during that time.

Doesn't look that way to me

Max rate is 3552, actual is 3200, noise margin 9.7db i.e max rate and actual are close and the noise margin is slightly raised which could be down to a normal noise margin swing if the router was last booted at a noisy time.

As dholdi says, I think a line problem is more likely - if that's a capped connection then it is a very light cap and not the reason for the low sync. A comparison with the test socket will be key to determine where the problem lies.
