      Stuck BRAS profile?

      Hey guys,

      Our exchange has been LLU'd at the start of the month (November), but as of yet we're still stuck on BT's equipment. It would have been fine, but we attempted to move the router to another room (horrible wireless reception) via a phone extension (bad move) and our sync dropped from 2700-3000 down to 400. It only happened for about 20 minutes, but for the past 2 days our BRAS has been stuck at 350 (I checked with speedtester). We're synced at >2700 at the moment.

      Now what is annoying, is that I thought the BRAS thing was fixed, and it would only take a few hours now. We're on the 3rd day now, so I'm waiting to see. Called Sky to see when I'd be put on LLU, and they said it was up to BT?? I just wish they'd hurry up - should I demand to be transferred to Mid? The speed is horrendous - can't even watch a Youtube video!

      Hi Matt

      The exchange could take upto 30 days for being commissioned onto Sky's ordering system etc.

      As for the profile, I thought it would go back up after 3 days.

      Apparently not. But I'll give it until later on today - as it's not the full 72 hours yet. And 30 days eh? Blah.. it'll be 30 days on 5th December though.. so we'll soon see.

      Sooner I get off this BT thing the better!

      BRAS profiles should be updated pretty quickly whenever there's a change in sync speed. I few reboots at hourly intervals ought to fix it if it gets stuck, or failing that, put the router back on its long extension, leave it like that for a couple of hours, then remove the long extension and give it a few reboots.

      Of you could speak to Customer Service and try you luck getting someone who understands that the problem needs to be passed on to BT.

      To be honest Im not so sure. When we were with PIPEX, our BRAS profile was stuck at 1000 for about a year, even though we were syncing at 2.6 at the time. A call to PIPEX CS informed me "Oh, I'd be happy with that!", to which I promptly felt like slamming the phone down...

      Update: I rebooted and it seems to have fixed it. Yay
