      Re: Intermitent Disconnection

I would try your test socket behind the master face plate before you ring Sky, Sky will just cap your speed until the connection becomes stable. As for your stats ideally the CRC errors should not exceed 0.1% of the SF figure, yours are way over that so not ideal and in my case figures like these did cause regular disconnection. Using the test socket isolates the BT line from any internal wiring, so if things improve when plugged into the test socket then the problem is in your house.

      Re: Intermitent Disconnection

Bah, got disconnected for half an hour before I got to read this post so phoned sky. They said to try using the test socket as well if it happens again, so that will be my next move to see what happens.

So when I plug it into the test socket, should I just leave it running for a while and see what happens (and do I need to unplug everything else from the master socket) or do I plug it in and then move on from there?

      Re: Intermitent Disconnection

As has been said, the test socket is behind the faceplate of the Master socket. When you remove the faceplate, attached to it will be any extensions you have in your house. These will obviously not work with the plate removed. Plug a filter into the socket that is exposed, then plug the router into that. You can also plug a phone into the filter so that you are not completely cut off from civilization. It is better if you can leave it in position and use it as heavily as possible for at least 24 hours. After that time, take the stats and post them.

      Re: Intermitent Disconnection

Ok, since I'm working again tommorow I'll hammer the connection on saturday and get the stats again.

Rearranged some of the cabling and been connected for 4 hours without problem so far, so maybe something had come loose and I hadn't got it back properly. I'l definately do the test socket on saturday though.

      cheers again for your help.

      Re: Intermitent Disconnection

Right, I eventually got arround to trying to sort this out.

Today I've left it one just downloading 7GB's worth of torrents and it's finished them all, although I noticed it disconnected at least once.

Probably not a good test because it's been running through the day, but still it's been happening randomly up until now. This isn't going through the Test Socket, just the main socket (but it has still been disconnecting there). I'm going to get it to download the same stuff again through the test socket tonight and tommorow and see what happens.

      Stats from todays tests:

I've noticed that my Up SNR is always the same, 14dB. Is that normal?

Anything obvious which might indicate a problem? I'm stumped.

      I'll post again tomorrow.

      Re: Intermitent Disconnection

upstream SNRs will always be higher as they are lower speed....from those stats there's nothing that springs to mind other then a wireless issue or not using the master/test socket...

Ok, I'll try the test socket tommorow for a day and see what results that brings up.

      Cheers

      Re: Intermitent Disconnection

Well, apart from my Wireless adapter blowing up last night (Just what I needed!) I think we've found the problem.

I know it didn't get used as much as the other day, but it hasn't disconnect and only 4 CRC Check errors, so I guess a new master socket it is then!

      Thanks for the help.
