      thinking of moving to sky

      hi all.

i currently have eclipse 8mb broadband which expires in the next couple of days.

i think its an adsl max line.

i am 3.5m from the exchange (straight line), my router reports 55db attenuation and a connection speed of about 1.5mb.

was thinking of moving to an adsl2+ line but not sure if i'll gain anything?

      i just want more speed!

been looking at be / o2 and sky, and with sky being the cheapest at a tenner, i'll prob go with them.

done a bit of reading but there seem to be no hard facts about if i'll get any improvement on my current connection.

any info would be greatly appreciated

      cheers

With an attenuation of 55db it is unlikely that sky will put you on adsl2+. Whether others would I cant comment on but I would think not as if it wont work with sky then it wont with others who use the same technology.
Have a look at this for some further info.

id have a good read of these boards before you decide to go with sky.
i went live on the 19th, and have so far had 1 days internet, made numerous calls at my expense to tech support and am no nearer to fixing the issue.
i am now at the end of my tether and am close to cancelling the contract.
The support is non existant, the technicians seem to be just reading fronm a prompt sheet, when they try pass you through to the experienced technicians (tier 1/2/3 - ive lost track who are who) they are never available, they cant call you back , and you just go round in circles answering the same dumb questions.
      yes, im brassed off

i should just add, i had 7 hassle free years with BT but the sky deal seemed to good to miss.
Bt have confiermed there is no issue with line, it has to be the router, but they wont send a new one.
The internet light should be greem but its solid amber, and has been for 8 days, the phone line crackles when the router is switched on, and tehy wont answer any questions whilst im not at home despite the fact when i have called for the last 5 times, they have not suggested i do anything with any equipment
