That's interesting. ICS is supposed to be turned off or set to manual in Vista. Who ever set your PC up must have set it to Automatic or some other setting is turning it on. Unless you are using your PC as an ICS host, ie., other PCs connect to the internet through it, there is no need for it to be running. This is worth keeping in mind, as it could be the cause of others' problems who are using Vista.

Re: losing net connection

Thinking about it, its only been the last 4 months I`ve had this problem. The PC is about 6 months old.
I`m just wondering if something turned it on , as I havent done anything? The only thing I played around with once was windows media player and trying to get media sharing working with my playstation 3. Perhaps I inadvertently turned it on then.

thanks

That may well have done it. You can check if it is on by right clicking My Computer, select Manage then Services. Look down the list for Internet Connection Sharing and check what it is set to. Accept UAC if it pops up. I am guessing that it is Automatic. If it is, set it to Disabled, as it will be using resources unnecessarily. If your PS is plugged into your router, you do not need ICS.
