Just thinking out loud but are there better microfilters available rather than the standard ones Sky provide in the box..?

Will there be any likely differences in service?

Adslnation.co.uk claim their filters are superior, and I have to agree they are very good.

They also have an explanation of why they claim they are better, but obviously it's written for marketing purposes.

Dont they say the ADSL nation ones which replace the faceplate are even better (if you are connected to the master socket, and have the correct type of master socket).

Re: Are there better microfilters available..?

The filters which Sky supply are actually quite good quality, probably almost as good as the ADSLNation ones. But as plank said, the real advantage is to be gained by getting rid of the microfilters and getting one of ADSLNation's filtered faceplates.

The purpose of the microfilter or filtered faceplate is to block radio frequency interference from telephones, Sky boxes and the like getting onto the phone line because that kind of interference will have a very bad effect of the broadband signal. Given that fact, you can see how it's better to have the device that blocks interference as early in the system as possible (i.e., at the master socket) and having the connection from that point to the router as short as possible.
