You are on MAX, your upload figure indicates this. ADSL2+ will be available at your exchange. You are not on ADSL2+, as your distance from the exchange, in Sky's view, means you would not benefit from it. You are on G.DMT, which is capable of delivering 12 mb to your router, although you line is not capable of anything like that.

If the first junction box is an oval one, usually brown or beige, this would be the original connection to your house. Sometimes BT removed these and just replaced it with a Master socket. Other times they extended from there and fitted the Master socket in another location. If yours was done by BT, as it should have been, the master will be the first box after it. Look inside the box and you should see capacitors, this indicates that it is a Master. If there are no capacitors, it is a slave extension and should be replaced with the proper box. If it needs replacing, phone BT and they should do it free of charge.

Once you have done that take some more readings and post them here. The guys and gals on the forum are really helpful.
Thanks, I have now arranged for BT to come and put a correct master socket in tomorrow and should then be able to plug the router directly into the test socket and get some hopefully different stats.

      Cheers

BT have now fitted a correct master socket (which was free for me as I was stil on the old junction box).

I've plugged the router directly into the test socket of this with nothing else connected and re-run the router stats which are much improved :

Having read other forums posts on the G.DMT vs ADSL2+ debate, I'm not clear on whether having one or the other is better ?.

Also read that using an XTE-2005 faceplate would improve things - any further thoughts on how to squeeze the most out of this connection ?

      Thanks

      Hi Rich

Yes those stats seem to be much better mate. Judging by your snr and attn you should be able to get much better speeds now. You should monitor the stats over next few days to see if it stablises your sync rate. I would have thought it would go up during the next few days.
Sure the others will pitch in to with advice for you.

      Regards

Re: First day connection on Max is slow

There is still something wrong. Unless you are very close to the exchange, almost next door, the attenuation you are showing, 15.5, is a router bug. You should reboot or power cycle your router until it shows the correct attenuation. It will not be that different from your previous of 56. This would be more in line with your sync speed. You should run for at least 24 hrs, then post back.

An ADSL face plate will not improve on the Test socket, it will help if you have extensions which may cause problems.
