Question Newbbie to this - setting up 2nd PC on broadband

Main PC up and runnning fine (using ethernet cable from netgear router) - but now looking to get the internet via wireless link on second PC. I've got the PCI card (not yet installed but just not sure what order to do things) - do I need to run the sky CD on the second PC to get the internet settings right first - using the ethernet cable - and then once done, install the PCI card and set up the wirless network, or can I just set up the wireless network and then sort out the sky installation afterwards. Probably being daft here but just wanted to check as no doubt this is obvious to many of you. Thanks in advance. Andy C

As your router is up and running, all I think you need to do is fit your wireless card, install it's software, and see if your wireless set up can detect your router. If it can ( and it should) then try and connect to it, enter your network key (in caps) and away you go. Fingers crossed

afaik, you do not need the cd, set up pc then connect to router (i think router wireless is set on as standard but may not be)

P.s as you may have read wireless is a bit pants, might be worth getting wireless set up next to router first (to make sure connects properly), once done then move pc to room you will use it in, that way if you have problems with connection you at least know wireless is set up correctly and you can then just try other small changes like adjusting ariel position / router up higher / away from any scource of interference like dect phones

may be a pain, but save a lot of time if wireless dose not work in the room at least you know it's the range thats a problem and not the set up

      (or it might work fine)
