      NO activation after 2.5 weeks...

I am desperate for help. After getting jerked around by Virgin for over a month (they needed to dig up our street to run the cable to the house), we went with Sky. I waited until my Sky TV was connected to order my broadband (on Oct 19th) then was told my broadband would be active on the 29th. I got the router, set it up, and no signal...they made me wait the extra 3 days and I did that. Still no signal. I called and they said there is an outage at my exchange that was reported on the 31st. It "should be resolved soon..." Well, it's now the 3rd and they are still sticking with their story that there's an outage on my exchange. I think they are lying to me and they aren't going to be able to activate my service. I mean...really - a 4 DAY OUTAGE??? Is this typical? What kind of service have I signed up for??? I'm just so frustrated over this entire process and so unimpressed with Sky. Does anyone have any idea if (a) they are just jerking my chain or (b) Sky's service is really this bad and I should anticipate 4+ day outages? Help.

It is quite possible that there is an outage and it is likely one that requires specific hardware and engineers to fix. I know I saw one last night that had been "fixed" by BT once only to fall over again.
Do you know what exchange you are on?

South Kensington (located on Draycott Ave) - and we are on port 69 or something 69 within that exchange.

unfortunately customers on port range 61-72 will be unable to connect (ticket added on 31/10/07) the ticket states Sky engineers are investigating.

so yes the sky support were telling the truth, and phoning up wont make any diffrence affraid your waiting until it gets sorted.

So when the bloody hell is Sky supposed to get this fixed? Is a 4+ day outage typical? I'm thinking BT has got to be better than this....

Re: NO activation after 2.5 weeks...

basically the problem lies with the sky dslam which has a fault affecting ports 61-72, if you were to switch to a diffrent isp you should be fitted to their dslam which *shouldnt* be faulty.

are you able to let us know which package your on with sky, and also if you can keep it to one topic then it is easier to provide support to yourself.
