Thumbs down tried to sign up is this mis selling !!

i have been a full paying full package sky + customer for more years than i care to remember having been on the full package from the inception of sky back in the analouge days, i read on the official sky website last night, the url being http//check.skybroadband.com/midnet.sapx
that i could have sky broadband connect for 5, sounds good thought i, wrong phoned up to be told its 17, i could not convince the male on the other end in the callcentre it was their official website, he told me to hang on he would check, i hung on, and hung on, at 7p per minute, kept hanging in the end ''hung up '' i am trying to stay positive i am currently a virgin customer, but this deal sounded good, clearly it is not as advertised, anybody else with similar tales of grief, please let me know, regards dave

i thought the broadband packages were simple enough as long as you already had a sky subscription

      - free - 2 meg connection
      - 5 - 8 meg connection
      - 10 - 16 meg connection

i say give them another call or perhaps order it through the website.

Those prices depend on your local exchange being enabled for Sky BB, if you have to use the Connect service via BT equipment the charge is 17 a month I think.

Connect for 5 a month is offered when the exchange is to be unbundled within the next 6 months - if not it's 17 a month...

Re: tried to sign up is this mis selling !!

the reason for the 17 price will be because your local exchance is not unbundled and you would be getting a re-branded BT connection, i think if sky are going to unbundle they may offer the service at 5,

hopefully some one will explain a bit better later

Edit: other people have replyed while i was typing

Agreed, best thing to do would be check on samknows.com to try and find out when the exchange is going to be enabled and then retry sky using the new info.

If the phone line check told you your could get Connect for 5, then this is probably true. Sky CS seem to be the last to be told these things and as they have no idea when an exchange is to be enabled would assume that it was 17. When the agent checked he would probably have found that it was available to you for 5 and would have signed you up. Try phoning back, tell them immediately that the site is offering it at 5, could they quickly check. With a lot of luck you may even get the same agent!
