      Awful Service

      Hi all,
last monday i started having problems with connection dropping out and i traced it to the main BT socket, so i changed it but was still getting connection probs. I rang sky and they were looking in to it. On thursday i changed the front of the socket to an ADSLnation one and on friday my speed went up to 3080, saturday morning and ever since back on its 700-992kbps???!!!!! I'm plugged into the main socket and ive only just re connected the secondary ext.

Router is running hot (do they all?)

I'm not sure how to get the full stats all you guys put in the threads but heres what i can get

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 704 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 62.0 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 13.8 db 15.0 db

Im on connect soon to be changed to mid (i believe) and this has now been passed to BT

      anyone got any advice comments?

      Craig

      Re: Awful Service

Did you have a broadband service before you joined Sky? If so, what kind of speeds did you get? How far are you from the exchange? You can find out by going to Samknows - Availability checker, entering your phone number and post code, then click on Check, then click on Locality.

I suppose it's possible that the faceplate is faulty - I don't know of anyone who's ever actually had a problem though. You can check this plugging your modem into the test socket that's behind the faceplate. The router plug won't fit into the test socket, so you'll need to either use a microfilter as an adapter, or if you've got a modem cable from an old dial-up modem, that will probably be suitable.

I wouldn't hold out much luck with those stats I'm afraid.
Do you know if the line stats were significantly different before you started having problems?
      Mac.

      Re: Awful Service

Im 3.44km away from exchange according to that site, it was all fine untill a week ago (its been on since 10.09.07) when i found the BT socket was faulty , ive since replaced that and fitted the ADSL nation plate on front (i'm a telephone engineer) like i say speed was over 3meg on friday and i thought all was well, but saturday it was on its bottom again?! Tier 2 have passed it to BT, and i rang again today to be told it was an open ticket with BT

Noise seems to change daily, it was 11db this morning then went down to 6db.

didnt move in this property untill 22 august, previously had blueyonder/virgin so this is a right pain in the bottom

      Re: Awful Service

A fair few CRC errors showing there. Are those stats with the router plugged directly into the master socket?
