Unhappy First day problems after migrate from Pipex..HELP

      Hi
Just been upgraded to sky Max today. Moved from Pipex due to impending Tiscali stuff!
Anyhow Ive checked my stats and I found that they not connected me to ADSL2 but stuck me on g dmt and interleaved!!! So I rang up and eventually managed to get through to Tier 3 and lady checked line did some tests and said yes thats right because of my Attn 27db and snr (10.5 at the time) only would give me a max of 8mb also said I was 7km away from exchange but that is impossible as It is just up the road (3km at the most). I argued the case but she was determand that she was right. So what the hell can I do now? my Attn and SNR all point to a better connection than 8mb. Here are my stats,,, hope someone can help me.

the only thing i can think of is to contact tier 3 advise them your not happy with the speed and would they be able to try the same config you were using before, its worth a try and they are the only people who can do it i believe.

and they are not all bad people

Oh calling pipex tiscali oh yak!! Anyhow thats a fact now
The speeds i was getting were exactly the same as Im getting now but I wasnt on interleaved with "Them" and i was just on max not the LLU which Im supposed to be on. Im totally lost off as the lady on tier 3 wouldnt put me on ADSL+2 as she said I was too far from the exchange, but my stats I have say I have a good line and connection dont they???

i didnt mean call pipex or tiscali, i meant retrying tier 3 hopefully you will get someone diffrent who will be more understanding, ask them to try it, the worse that can happen is you will be without internet for a few days while they reverse it.

Not a great deal of difference but its a start! Att went up from 27 to 30 Oh and my snr 5.5 Ive tweaked that it was 7.3

So hopefully it will improve over time when it learns the line is stable

Re: First day problems after migrate from Pipex..HELP

It is normal for the Attenuation to rise about 3 dbs when moved to +2. I don't understand why you have 'tweaked' your SNR down to 5.5, this is likely to drop even lower and disconnect you. You should be increasing the SNR if you want a stable line. There is no training or stabilising period with ADSL+2. Your line does show a number of errors, so you may find an improvement if you 'tweaked' your internal wiring rather than the settings. There is lots of advice on how to do this in the Cabling and faceplate help - Sky User - The unofficial support forum for everything Sky! part of the forum. Also try running TCPOptimiser on your PC to optimise it's settings.
