      sync speed?

      hi all, and great forum

i have been with bt total b/b max for 2 years and always sync'ed @8126kbps

switched to sky connect approx 2 weeks ago and the last two days cannot sync above 7680 kbps ? ive never had a problem with bt b/b and never had a prob (yet) with sky b/b? my router is in the master with a filtered faceplate, with x1 extention that isnt used, and how do i get those detailed states i see a page long on here?

so why would my syc speed change chaps? i thought the connect package was the same as the bt one i was on?

      Re: sync speed?

That is a little strange since you do have some headroom in your SNR to go a little lower (higher sync).
Have you tried rebooting the router since?
Perhaps you switched it on at night when the SNR wasn't so good?
Check your stats before you reboot the router and check again immediately after.
      Post results here again.
      Mac.

      Re: sync speed?

Interestingly your SNR has gone down (got worse) even though your sync speed has also decreased.
It is a fact that noise increases on telephone lines at night due to Medium Wave radio interference!
Its not going to make any difference to you (7488 V 7680) since both of these are on the 6.5Mbps profile.
      Check here for explanation.
Andie off topic a bit but which exchange are you connected to?
Can you get one of sky's LLU products instead of connect?

      Mac.

maybe bt are giving there subs a bit of my speed out of spite!? lol

ive also noticed my lowest snr has been 9, but the sync never changed?

does the 446kbs matter that much if your internet connection is stable ?

      Re: sync speed?

      Hi,
Had a look at your exchange. Its tiny! only 1700 residential users.
Anyway, quite right no LLU there.
      Back to your question.
It may be possible that your Linksys router was a little more tolerable to lower SNR than your SKY router.
Since using your Sky router Sky may have tweaked the SNR target a little higher to gain more stability.(I am assuming that your SKY router was flapping before)
This might be why you now connect at a lower sync rate. Also as a matter of note you are connected using Interleave mode as opposed to FAST mode.
This also is an indication that previous connections may not have been very stable as this is normally switched to interleave to improve stability at the expense of Ping times (normally adds around 20ms to ping times).
The Link in my previous post is great at explaining alot of things that go on behind the scenes for MaxDSL products (Sky connect).
      Mac.

what im trying to get to the bottom off is (why its changed since on sky connect) when its always been stable with never any drop out?

and always been stable with bt and never changed?

im sure if you lost speed with a new product , you would want to know why?
