Still not connected after 3 weeks!

I have migrated from BT to Sky. On the 9th October i was meant to be migrated over. When i got home on the 9th i had no broadband. I left it a couple of days as per their letter but still nothing. I rang support who did a line test and said they would get BT to the exchange. A couple of days later i called back to here that the exchange at Cleckheaton, W. Yorks did not have enough capacity and that all SKy people on that exchange are down. I am constantly ringing to find out more info but all they say is there is a problem and they will fix it soon. Nobody is able to tell me when this will work. No a very good start from Sky. Does anyone think i will be able to cancel my contract with them as they have not yet provided any broadband service?

Definately if you phone up to cancel there is a new department which has recently been setup called early life cancellations, there is an option for pre activation cancels not sure about the contract though i dont deal with that.

just so people now, i have spoken to sky who have cancelled my account, no questions asked. They did however say that i was too far away from the exchange. I told them that BT worked at about 2MB and they said "ah well thats BT"!! Back to BT i go..........

If the exchange does not have enough capacity, it is possible they were 'fobbing you off' until such time as a place came up. If you are buying broadband from BT they are going to make sure your line is fully optimized. They will not do this for Sky or any other ISP. As long as the voice phone works, that is it, as far as they are concerned.

Re: Still not connected after 3 weeks!

I am having the same problem in South Kensington! I was meant to be activated on October 29th. I waited the three days - no service. I've called and called -they say that I am in "Port 69" and that there is an outage that affects ports 65-73. The outage started two days ago - and I'm told that it should be resolved "soon" - meaning within the next day. I hate to be paranoid, but I don't believe them. And I'm just shocked that Sky doesn't think a 3 day outage is a big deal. Come on! 3 days without any internet? How often does this happen???

Re: Still not connected after 3 weeks!

3 days is not a big deal - their SLA is to have 'most' issue fixed in 5 days but if its a deep routed issue then it'll take as long as it takes. This is a consumer service and cheap so you get what you pay for tbh...
