Thanks i will probably wait ,I'm not in a great rush to leave my existing ISP but if its going to take more than 6 months then i may go for connect.

Basically Sky have an order processing system which communicates with BT.

In a base/mid/max order the flow might be:

      24th October: Order Placed
25th October: Date Confirmed: 5th November
      5th November: Order Complete

its a little bit more complicated but thats the basics of it. The router is dispatched when the 'Date Confirmed' line is received.

      A typical connect order is

      24th October: Order Placed
      5th November: Date Confirmed: 5th November 2007
      5th November: Order Complete

So the router gets dispatched within 5 working days of the actual activation date. I'm fairly confident its down to BT not communicating the information properly, but I'm sure they could just send one out to customers anyway...
I don't want any downtime if i can help it and am in no great rush to migrate as my ISP is not the reason i am migrating,i guess i will have be patient for a while longer.
Once you are offered the Connect package for 5 what is the average length of time until the exchange is unbundled?

As you are going on the Connect package then you will be very lucky if you don't have any downtime, I lost two days and my brother lost a month or two are Sky continually failed to send him his router.

My exchange was unbundled just as my 6 months with the reduced Connect price was up, if you exchange isn't done within the 6 months I think they let you continue to have it at a fiver.

Alan look at post #12 i said i will probably wait and go directly to the Mid package after the exchange is unbundled providing it is not going to take more than 6 months.

      Re: Llu

Aha sorry i misread it, so its roughly 6 months from the 5 offer for connect to the exchange being unbundled.
I think i can wait, has anyone else had it done faster?

      Re: Llu

You would do well to look out for the 5 offer, many have discovered that the Sky places at some exchanges fill very quickly. If you are on the 5 connect you are guaranteed a place. If you wait you may not get a place at all.
