      new here need some advice

      hi all,

so ive ordered sky broadband max and it should be active in a few days i am moving from tiscali. ive got my router took the sky firmware right off and went for uberGT everything is good with my tiscali setting in (have my sky username and password backed up for when i get activated). below are my current stats from my router:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 8032 kbps 288 kbps
Line Attenuation 13.0 db 9.0 db
Noise Margin 13.9 db 25.0 db

my exchange is enabled with sky's max service so anyone have any idea what my downstream will be once im enabled. ive read some guides on speed on the forum but if somebody could give me an estimate i will be very thankful.

      thank you all.

why did you take off the Sky FW if you've not even tried it yet?

and from those stats you should get close to 16MB...

Personlly I would have left the firmware alone until you tried it, many people use the Sky router as standard without problems including me. It is against there terms and conditions to change the firmware and they are unlikely to offer you any support if you have problems and they find you are using different firmware. I would only have changed it as a last resort if problems did occur. As for stats it depends how they profile your connection when they set it up, you cant really tell from another providers stats.
