You will have been disconnected from a DSLAM:
      thinkbroadband :: How Broadband Works

It doesn't take very long to put you back on. Though considering it's most likely a BT Engineer doing the work, that's probably why you have the november date.
And if you do want to complain it can't hurt sending an email off to the James Murdoch email address (can't remember what it is at the moment). His minions read the emails and usually sort issues out fairly quickly. I've found it a much quicker method than going through Sky Customer Services reps (i have on occassion blown my top with them, over something that only took somebody higher up the food chain to sort out in about 5 minutes).

I've had exactly the same situation happen ([URL=http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/sky-unhappiness/17278-sky-idiocy-vent.html]Here]) and I think the way Sky deal with people is an absolute disgrace. For one they aren't providing the level of service one would expect of one of the largest (and richest) companies in the country, and two, to not have a customer service department that people can speak to is a big testamanet to how unhappy their customers are.

I've been emailing "customer care" (how ironic, as it really isn't) since the big farce a couple of weeks ago and I never get anything useful or sincere - only complete evasive b*****ks that never answers my quesstions.

When I enquired about compensation I received the following response:

"I understand the technical difficulties can be frustrating, however, with regards to compensation we would rather wait until matters have been resolved and you have an active broadband account before we consider this."

Now why on earth would they need to do that?

I appreciate that Sky BB is cheap but lets face it, if it cost anymore it would be daylight robbery.

Well this just gets better. They have refunded the 49 cost of the Sky+ box that my neighbour paid with his card - to my account.

      Why

Does emailing him actually make a difference? Surely customers shouldn't have to be emailing Murdochs to get a good service out of the company?

To date, they have failed to refund the cost of the Sky+ box to my neighbour and have signed me up to Sky talk - which I NEVER wanted... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Re: BB Max cancelled by Sky

Got a reply from the Murdoch Office, as well as an email from O2 offering the same broadband service.

Murdoch office apologised and confirmed that money paid for equip + installation had been refunded to my account. They also told me they had cancelled sky talk but I should go and find a new phone provider.

Er hello! Which part of "My neighbour paid it so refund him" do they not understand!

Anyway, I told them to refund money to correct account, sort out my BT account, and send me my MAC Code.

Sod em. I'm going to O2.

It is unfortunate, but a little research could have avoided the whole fiasco. Your neighbour could have had Sky without a phone line by paying a 25 surcharge. As a new customer he would have been entitled to 50 of vouchers, which would have offset the 25 charge. As introducer, you would also have been given 50 of vouchers.
