      Is my connection being capped ?

      Hi, this is my first post, so please be gentle with me !! I recently joined Sky broadband on the mid package and expected to get somewhere around 5 Meg download based on my distance from the local exchange (less than 2km).

      I've read just about every posting on here with regard to download speeds and have checked the connect stats on my router many times (and reset it at various times of the day) and always get the same values :

      ADSL Link Downstream
      Connection Speed 3072 kbps
      Line Attenuation 35.0 db
      Noise Margin 25.0 db

      Is there anything i can do to increase the download speed ?

      From looking at the stats shown you should get a greater speed than it is showing at the moment, but could you post your detailed router stats using the sky netgear utility, ang from there, your are very possibly being capped by sky.

      Thanks for the response. however, since posting this item I have received a response from the e-mail I sent to james.murdoch@sky.com with complaints about this and my broadband problems, not only speed, but the delay in getting it active from when I lost my connection to Tiscali (5 days !!).

      They are sending an engineer with a new Sky+ box tomorrow and have increased my broadband connect to nearly 7 meg !!
