One PC connects, the other doesnt

Ive got a desktop and a laptop at home. Both connect wirelessly, using the same make of dongle (Bluenext WD802.11G). My desktop connects first time, everytime, and never drops the connection. The laptop however, seems to drop the connection every 5mins or so, and when it is connected, it is either very slow at loading pages, or does not load them at all. Any ideas? Both computers are running XP. I think I vaguely remember having some trouble with clashing IP addresses, which I seemed to solve by making sure I have both set to automatically obtain an address, and the laptop will have the problem even if the desktop is turned off.

Have you tried changing the dongle, to rule a faulty one out of the equation? Also run TCPOtimiser on both machines.
