Smile The best connection speed i can get

I am new to skyuser, so will try my best to keep up with the rest of you out there.

I would like to know, what would be a real world speed and maximum speed for my stats, shown below if the line was the best it could be.
Also i should point out that, my connection works fine with this noise margin, it is around 7.8db in the daytime.

Here are by basic line stats:
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 8254 kbps 765 kbps
Line Attenuation 37.5 db 23.7 db
Noise Margin 5.8 db 7.5 db

I know these aren't the detailed stats, but i am only looking for an idea of the possible speed.

Help on this subject would be greatly welcomed........

Re: The best connection speed i can get

When i put the mode to ADSL2+ the line attenuation goes to 40db. With this what speed should i be getting, just an idea of possible speed would be useful.

Also should the attenuation be 37db, being on ADSL2 then change to 40db on ADSL2+......

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 8254 kbps 765 kbps
Line Attenuation 37.5 db 23.7 db
Noise Margin 7.1 db 7.5 db

      Sorry, i am a bit lost ?

you are syncing at just over 8meg,

ADSL2+ and Gdmt are the 2 versions sky use (i think) your profile says max but was you line stats Gdmt first ???? (before you started changing things)

Re: The best connection speed i can get

At the start my connection was g.dmt, 6 months ago i had the connection moved to ADSL2+ profile, but as of a few weeks ago i have had my connection uncapped.

But has you can see from an above post, it will sync with ADSL2 mode, are these the same ADSL2 and ADSL2+ and should the att change moving between them.

ok, just to clear things up, when you first you were on max but sky put you on Gdmt (this is normally because of errors on your line), then six months ago you were moved to ADSL2+ (did sky do this or did you ?)
then a few weeks ago you had your connection uncapped ? again did sky do this and did you do anything to improve your home wiring?)

Lastly, yes when you move from from Gdmt to Adsl2+ your att will increase somewher in the region of 3

I can't recall seeing ADSL2 mode reported in stats. I just wonder, has your firmware been upgraded? Have a look at the Status page of your router to see what it is reporting for the firmware version.

Moving up to ADSL2+ will increase the attenuation by about 3 dbs. At 40 dbs I think you would be around the limit of useful ADSL2+.
