or ask them what one of the 3 routers they have sent you do they want back,or else say the reason u are cancelling is because you never recived your router and everyone at tier 1 has never escalated your problem

Re: My 12 months is up - ive cancelled , but SKY want the router back!!?

Ok, i sent this letter today.

      Ref – Account Number 6*********6

      Dear Sir/Madam

I recently received a letter from you confirming my cancellation of Sky Broadband (see copy attached).

The letter requested that I send back the router in the ‘pre-paid’ envelope that came with the Sky router set up’

Can I make two points regarding his request:

      1 – I never received a ‘pre-paid envelope’

2 – I was under the impression the router was now my property in accordance of section 3c of the Terms & Conditions – see below

"Your Broadband Box (except the software in it) will become your property on installation
if you choose Home Installation, or on delivery if you choose Self Install. The software
in your Broadband Box is owned by or licensed to SHS or another member of the
British Sky Broadcasting group. You must allow this software to be updated. Updates
will happen automatically at no extra charge."

Therefore I am happy for someone to come and collect the software but the equipment as stated above belongs to me.

I look forward to receiving your comments.

As we all know SKY cs is awful and with the post being how it is right now im not expecting a reply for some time but i will keep you all updated.

      Johnny

I would have also stated that if they want you to post it, you will, however there is an admin fee of £30, that they will have to pay to you for your trouble

Re: My 12 months is up - ive cancelled , but SKY want the router back!!?

To be honest, I'm not sure if I would have been bothered to do anything at all. Sky seem to casually disregard plenty of letters, emails and phone calls. Give 'em a taste of their own medicine and just ignore them. After all, what are they going to do? Get a court order? To do that, they'd have to present the terms and conditions as proof that you have to return the router at which point they're going to look very, very silly.

Besides, when I sent back the SkyHD box they sent to me (having taken weeks for them to ship it in the first place), they denied ever receiving it, even though I had proof of delivery and even the name of the person who signed for it. It took a month of phone calls, letters and emails to get my money back for that.

I certainly would not be too happy to return the router at the end of the contract in view of the wording in their T & C's. Apart from anything else they are very saleable on eBay so the Admin charge of £30 is a very good idea if they want it back!

I've managed to get out of contract and they said in email they want me to return the broadband box in the provided envelope.

I emailed them requesting one as I had non, I don't even know where the packaging is!

      Regards
      Blue.

Just thought about the poor sky max service you recieved.

Now i am sure that 50 weeks ago the software on the router was not the latest one, and maybe using your "superior Linksys router" caused half of your problems.

As i said it was Just a thought, i am sure you will be happy with demon.

BTW what speed do you get with demon now as when i was with them there "upto 8 mbs" package was throttled to high heaven hence the reason i left them.

Re: My 12 months is up - ive cancelled , but SKY want the router back!!?

I signed up for Sky+ and Max BB a couple of weeks ago, and last night I received a 'welcome call' from Sky.

One of the things that I was informed on the call was that, and I quote word for word, 'The equipment is yours and is covered by a 12 month warranty'.

Re: My 12 months is up - ive cancelled , but SKY want the router back!!?

What I can suggest is that since they said that the software inside the broadband box is theirs, you should just help yourself in removing the SKY Firmware and put in Netgear's firmware in.

I'm sure you know how to do this.

      http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/sky-r...-password.html

Forget about giving the router back. I'm sure they will forget since they DID NOT give you a return envelope
