      Unhappy iTunes Store connection problem

      Hi

I'm new to all this im afraid so excuse me if I dont do this right!

Im trying (with increasing desperation) to access iTunes store.

Its coming up with an error messaging saying 'iTunes could not connect to the iTunes store - Make sure you network connection is active and try again'. Not helpful when im using my broadband connection (which is admittadly very very slow in my area)

I have done nothing exciting to my PC since getting Sky broadband. I have tried deleting and reloading iTunes and I have also turned off AVG/Zone Alarm to see if that helped (it didnt!). Im now told it might be a firewall on my SKY router but when I tried to look into that and TCP/UDP ports I was told my ip address was illegal????

Completly confused and appreciate any advice on how to resolve this!

      Thanks!!

      Try this

Open Internet Explorer, Tools, Internet Options, Connections - LAN settings under 'proxy server' if the 'use a proxy server for your LAN' is ticked, untick it.

      Re: iTunes Store connection problem

No specific help here, but I'm not having problems with accessing the iTunes store on my Vista PC, and I haven't had to alter firewall settings - or indeed any kind of settings - on the router to get this to work. And I've got UPnP switched off on the router as well, so iTunes isn't secretely opening up a port on the router to make it work.

That does seem to suggest that the most probable cause of the problem is your PC. Did you use the CD that came with your router? I didn't, and if you did, maybe the security software it installed on your PC might be causing this problem.
